Makaya McCraven, Braxton Cook & Jaimie Branch played NYC as part of our secret line up
Makaya McCraven, Jaimie Branch and Braxton Cook performed at a Jazz Standard event on New York on 30 April.
In an exclusive Jazz Standard curation for Sofar Sounds NYC, the artists played in New York’s China Town District as part of a secret line-up that was only revealed on the night.
Saxophonist and vocalist Braxton Cook – who just released his debut album Somewhere In Between – performed a stripped back set featuring guitarist Andrew Renfroe.
Drummer Makaya McCraven teamed up with cellist and fellow Chicagoan Tomeka Reid with a set that was euphoria for both their heartiest fans and new ears.
Brooklyn based trumpeter Jaimie Branch played with drummer Jason Nazary. With her debut album Fly Or Die out 5 May via International Anthem, the show provided a preview of the phenomenal album to come.
